GIRL FRIDAY ♥ KAREN ELSON DIVORCE?

I was going to do a post on another GIRL FRIDAY...but then I thought I'd share probably one of the strangest press releases I've ever received. It's about Karen Elson, whom I've covered on here before. So read it for yourself...you'll see why I read it a few times, wondering if it was hype, or a joke or real or ?...after all, it is also Jack White. And how can anyone forget that when the White Stripes started, they said they were brother and sister until it came out that they had been  couple before and weren't brother and sister at all. Here's the release:

To whom it may concern:

karen elson and jack white announce today that they are getting divorced.

"we remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee.
We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.
In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party.  an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family."

with love
Karen Elson and Jack White

If it's really true...that makes me very sad...I thought they were a match made in heaven. But at least the ending is a good one, albeit strange that they did a press release with the invite (which is gorgeous, btw)...wonder what really happened.♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ KAREN ELSON

Supreme model Karen Elson has a new record...and though I haven't heard the songs, they must be amazing because after all she is married to Jack White. What I do know is that she is a pretty nice girl...I had a chance to meet her by accident at  a Dazed party in NYC a few years ago. I honestly had no idea who she was or that she was a model....she looked like a really cool hippy girl. I think she was bare-footed, too. She was just some girl smiling at me at this fun party and I think she said hi and then I said hey and we were watching someone...but I don't remember whom we were watching. And then I took a good look at her and said something funny like, "Aren't you that model?" I mean, I honestly couldn't tell. And she smiled and said, "Yeah." And we talked a while. She was way cool and real. The cover of her record is amazing and if you didn't already know, they are or have released peach-colored vinyl and it's also peach scented! If you're going to do it, that's the way to go. Total style.♡

♥ AMAZING FACE ♥ KAREN ELSON, HER MAKEUP AND LULA MAGAZINE ♥

I had forgotten that I owned this issue of Lula...it's issue nine. I can't find the date or year anywhere for it.  But it must be a couple of years old. I know all of the stories, but I forgot I actually owned the issue in which they all appear. This is an amazing issue if you can get your hands on it. Especially the cover featuring covergirl Karen Elson. I have a liking for this model. I don't know if I would like her as much if I hadn't met her once at a Dazed and Confused (magazine) party (when I was still writing for them). It was in New York and she looked so simple...like a hippy girl you'd see at a Grateful Dead show (when The Dead actually played and Jerry was still alive). The thing is, she was so so nice. Super cool girl. I love all about this shoot, especially her makeup. It's just too too amazing for words. I have tried to capture some of it close up for you below...I actually do have some makeup reviews and skincare reviews to post. But I've had terrible insomnia and so I am now typing like a robot girl before I pass out. I shall post them up later, though. Promise. x♥

absolutely amazing makeup. i love love those eyes. i want to do my eyes that way. if i can!

FRIDAY FANCY ♥ LANVIN 2012 CAMPAIGN

AND FASHION WEEK. SO FAR....it's been a YAWN. (Did you just yawn, too?) Super BORE. And one thing that came up during convo this week, too, was how annoying NYFW is in that they can't all get together and stream the shows ON ONE CHANNEL/SITE!!! I mean....GEEEEZ. How annoying to have to go here and there. There isn't even one cohesive place to see all the live stream schedules. NYFW seems to get worse and worse. It used to be the best, but I think they've lost that title clearly.

On another note, since I thought I was taking off today to go back to the city, I didn't have anything for today specifically and I was going to post this LANVIN 2012 CAMPAIGN video next week....but maybe it's just what we need. A few things...first, I think it's really fun. And it's primarily the editing that makes it so (just in case those of you aren't giving enough credit to editors....a good film editor is like a big block of GOLD!)...next....Karen Elson looks like she dropped another 10 pounds for this  or after her divorce! I didn't even know it was her at first. That and maybe some face things done? I heart her, but I couldn't even tell it was her! And lastly...which model dances the best? Ahem...not to be mean, but it's pretty funny when you look at Karen and then you look at Raquel Zimmerman (who also does not seem to age in the slightest...such a gorgeous girl)....because Raquel can shake it up.♡

♥ MAKEUP ARTIST PETRA KOZINA RECREATES THE LULA COVER LOOK ♥

YEA! I let one of my favorite YouTube beauty gurus, Petra Kozina (whom I've featured on here before) know about that post I recently did on the cover of Lula with Karen Elson and that amazing makeup she had on...and Petra loved it so much that she recreated it! And I love it even more methinks! It's such a rockstar look (or what I like to call a rockstar-girlfriend look). It's so unconventional and radical and she's right...it is very 70's...like a very 70's Bowie look. I'm so excited she loved it enough to teach us how to achieve this look. Which is the most amazing part because I've been staring at that Lula cover for a couple of years, and now I finally know how to achieve the look. Doesn't hurt that Petra has amazing blue eyes and red hair right now, too...

See the post with this cover here....and see the video tutorial on how to get this look below! And other things I've posted about Petra here...

THANKS, PETRA! LOVE YOU! XXXX♥

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ HELENA BONHAM CARTER

HELENA BONHAM CARTER FOR MARC JACOBS shot by Juergen Teller (who else)...you might not like her. You might love her. But you can't deny that these fashion campaign shots aren't a) eye catching, b) crazy and fun at the same time and maybe even weird, c) totally different from what other top top fashion brands are doing. Most fashion brands go for the "look how sexy you can be in these clothes...look at these perfect models...see how perfect they look and you, too, can look perfect" thing...which is so completely played out and YAWN. That's why I love these. I like HBC, though. I think she's a crazy good actress and I love people who have their own style. Even if it's not kitten and way out there on Mars.♡

FRIDAY FANCY ♥ VUITTON PART TWO

Hi again. Yes. Like I mentioned is previous post, there was just too much goodness in the Vuitton show to only cover it one shoe post. I mean, there was many good looks, I don't know if I'm even going to include the full looks in this or any post. So if you haven't seen the full collection,  please watch the Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 collection video...you won't get the full effect if you look at still shots of the models. Nope. No way. I will, however, show a lot of the goods and details here and I didn't and couldn't really take in whilst watching it. Though, one other good thing about this show were all the surprise rockstar models...so I will add that to this post if it doesn't get too long.

HERE IS PART TWO!

The first thing I got was a flashback to 70s/80s/90s LV logo hysteria, especially knock-off hysteria of that past. LOVED those! The bag shapes looked like a ton of vintage LV. And then of course there were a million other details that I'll leave for the captions...onto the photos...I'll have to mention the stockings in the next LV post.

Wait...there are just way too many images and things to talk about. So I'll  be doing one more LV post.  I haven't had a chance to read or watch any interviews...so I don't know what Marc Jacobs is calling his inspiration for this collection...but to me it looks like Cuffed and Chained at the Masquerade. ? :) (PS Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble...I've just got a lot going on and I'm really tired.)♡

one hat on list. check!
that is one amazing look. that is one amazing hat.
a magnificent LV bag that looks totally vintage.
one little LV clutch that looks like my mother's 70s vintage. check!
i showed these in the previous post with the other shoes, but i had to show them again with the other logos.
more logo clutch heaven.
i just love this styling...look at the skirt of the dress with those shoes with that bag. not that you'd actually wear it. but it looks really good all together for a show or editorial.
cuffed!
cuffed again!
is this pic saucy or ? that bag is gorg'.
cuffed again....
ok...this looks is one of my entire favorites. just look at this pic with the hat and the masque and the jacket(?)...amazing.
and bag....insanity. the entire look including make up including the mix of color.
cute and cuffed in gold.
love this accessory. crazy masked hat. really a big mix of everything but tailored so well and styled to perfection. you can see some of the insane details in this photo that i'll be discussing in another post.
can't forget the teddy bear bag.
more cuffs...
a really good fun...bag?
gorgeous green and gold.

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ GRACE CODDINGTON'S BOOK!

US VOGUE's Creative Director Grace Coddington will have a memoir out sometime in the near future penned by her friend at Vanity Fair (Michael Roberts, VF's Style Editor-At-Large)! I cannot wait. So many of us...wait, let me say that again...so so so so so so so many many many of us who've worked in the fashion industry as designers and journalists (me) and stylists love this woman. We think US Vogue would be nothing without her. We love everything about her spirit and her vision and her own personal style. I'm so excited to read it! In honor of Madame Coddington, I'm going to post a bunch of pics of her from past and present....you know she was a model? If you saw "The September Issue", then you know a lot of this stuff already. And I'm sure you're just as excited as I am to read her memoir!! (It's rumored her book deal got her a whopping $1.2 million!)

On a side note...I should be doing more book reviews on here as I am a writer, too, in addition to art directing and creative consulting...and my novel is going to be out soon...really soon! (YEA!) But if you haven't read In and Out of Vogue by Grace Mirabella, you should def get that one on your list. Not too many people talk about it as much as they talk about DV (Diana Vreeland's fab book) or of course newer things like The Devil Wears Prada. Def read that book. It's very important in showcasing how nasty the game of fashion magazine business can be.♡

Grace Coddington 1962. Amazing.
So so so so so amazing. totally my favorite....I think.
So glam rock. So David Bowie-esque!
So gorgeous
a ma zing
Hello, Grace! Too hot.
I love all the Mod stuff...so good.
Karen Elson as Grace Coddington!

Just so amazing. We should all aspire to be like Grace. :)
